Import substitution strategy in agriculture economy

The article deals with the problems of agricultural development in Russia and the Chuvash Republic as well as with the problem of import substitution and transition to export-oriented production in agro-industrial complex. Data on the status and development of agriculture in the territory of Russia and the Chuvash Republic are provided; priority directions in the field of import substitution and food security of the country are emphasized. The authors give recommendations for development of import substitution strategy and for increasing the competitiveness of the agro-industrial complex in the Chuvash Republic, for solving the problem of providing import substitution on the national level.
