Revisiting the question of philosophical and legal problems in understanding the status of a human embryo

The article makes an attempt to assess different philosophical religious views and positions of legal scholars on the problem of determining the status of a human embryo. The author analysed the legislator's relation to the legal nature of a human embryo status during Soviet and modern periods of time. By results of work the conclusion is drawn that the research subject is relevant consequent to lack in clear understanding in the Russian legislation of legal human embryo status as well as concern of the general public in questions of abortion and maintaining female and male reproductive health.
