Transformation in definition of a regional food market term under the influence of modern economic challenges

The articles studies definition formation of the term “regional food market” on the ground of a number of past and modern scientists’ works in a successive order. The need of its transformation is noted for taking into account modern economic challenges, including introduction of international sanctions against Russia and reciprocal food embargo since 2014. Special attention is paid to specific changes in food market functioning at active import substitution introduction which results in an increased role of balancing the structure of commodities present at the market: local commodities, those delivered from other regions of the country and imported commodities. On the ground of analysis performed the author offers her own definition of a” regional food market” which takes into account features of economics formation, including politics of food supply of the country under the influence of external challenges and threats.
